The Friends of Hocombe group was set up as part of the Hocombe Mead project which ran from 2008 until 2010. The group normally meets once a month in a local pub to discuss and plan forthcoming tasks and events. It is a constituted group and is always looking for funds to increase the work it does at the reserve or to buy equipment. WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS.
The conservation tasks are carried out to follow Eastleigh's management plan and normally take place on the second thursday of the month. All you need is a pair of gloves and suitable clothing as the group supplies the equipment needed. You will be given training and support and an opportunity to do something new. The tasks are varied and you will not be pressured into doing something that you do not want to. You can also help with lots of other things if you would prefer not to do practical tasks.
How can I join?
You can of course just turn up on a task day - we meet at the Ashdown Road entracne at 10am - please be aware that there is very limited parking.
However, for Health and Safety reasons we would prefer that you made contact before hand so that we can be prepared.
